Having
been inspired by such masters as Frank Stella, Piet
Mondrian and Kandinsky, artist Cerj Lalonde states, "Some
of my paintings are very structured and orderly so that
the security and the power of limits permit all freedom
for the expression of forms and colors and of all what
painting and only painting can do."
Lalonde
has developed a highly personal visual language by placing
himself at the meeting points of the Russian avante-garde,
present day minimalism and post modern abstraction.
In doing so he has become part of the great non-objective
movement born from the analytical cubism.
Born in Montreal, Canada, Lalonde holds degrees in Anthropology
and Art History from the University of Montreal and University
of Quebec in Montreal. Since moving to the United States,
in 1980, he has exhibited at many well known and prestigious
galleries throughout Canada and the United States.
His
paintings have been acquired over the years by both public
and private collections and have been chosen for exhibitions
organized to show new and significant trends in painting.
