I have been creating mouth blown and hand
sculpted art glass pieces for 19 years. During that time
my love and enthusiasm for the material has only grown.
Blown glass as well as sculpted hot art glass have an immediate
gratification which I find pleasing both from the craft
technique as well as the artistic endeavor.
Early
in my career I moved to Europe. I completed my degree, BA(HONS)
, at West Surrey College of Art and Design, in Farnham England
and then moved to Sweden. A country rich with a history
of glass design and culture. An apprenticeship with Master
Arthur Zirnzack taught me how to combine blown glass with
sculpture. His knowledge of the material and technique were
a great gift to me.
Years
later after returning to the USA I met and began working
with Martin Blank. He is one of my favorite art glass sculptors.
It was on his recommendation that I began working with Dale
Chihuly. Dale has an ability to bring together skilled artisans
and crafts people from all over the world and get the best
from them. People like Pino Signeretto and Italo Scanga,
whom have influenced my work.
I have
been fortunate enough to work with some of the world's best
glass artists . I think that can be seen reflected in my
designs and choice of color.
